Holloways "Boobs Out" Printed Pot

Reprinted with permission from page 31 of "A Collectors Guide to Ointments" by Alan Blakeman

"The fine figure of a seated woman, and child by her feet, appearing on the sides of the pictoral versions of Holloway's Ointment pots has become something of a 'classic' bottle related image.

Normally her clothing manages to cover "bits" which are not generally exposed. However, somewhere along the engravers path somebody came up with the illustration variation above, which has become known as the "boobs out" version.

When viewed alongside one another the variations clearly show the boo..., oops - mistake! Anne Young reckons an engraver simply got bored one day.

Considerably rarer than the less saucey version."

Only after having acquired a copy of BBR's Ointment Guide did I realise that I had a "Boobs out" version of the Holloways Pot in the collection.

Not quite as graphic as that pictured by Alan but still pretty risque at the time.

I actually think mine has bigger boobs than Alans version... a 36b at least!
